Privacy Policy

1. Introduction
Vikolo Dynamics Ltd (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates RecitID (“the Service”), a Quran recitation identification and reading application available on iOS and Android. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our Service.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Audio Data & Microphone Access
RecitID requires access to your device's microphone for two core features: (1) Quran recitation detection, and (2) Live Khutbah transcription. When you use these features, audio is captured from your microphone, processed in real-time, and immediately discarded after processing. Audio is sent to OpenAI (Whisper speech-to-text API) for transcription. Audio data is not stored permanently on our servers or by OpenAI beyond the processing window, in accordance with OpenAI's data usage policies.
2.2 Usage Data
We collect anonymous usage data through Firebase Analytics (provided by Google) including pages viewed, features used, and general interaction patterns to improve the Service. This data does not personally identify you and is aggregated for analytics purposes.
2.3 Account Data
If you create an account, we collect the information you provide during registration, such as your name and email address. Authentication is handled via Firebase Authentication (provided by Google), which supports sign-in via Apple Sign-In and Google Sign-In. We store your user ID, display name, and email address. We do not have access to your Apple ID or Google account password.
2.4 Purchase Data
If you subscribe to premium features, purchase data (subscription status, transaction identifiers, and entitlement information) is processed and managed by RevenueCat, our in-app purchase management provider. RevenueCat receives your anonymous app user ID and purchase receipts from the Apple App Store to verify and manage your subscription entitlements. We do not store credit card information or payment details.
2.5 Device Information
We may collect device information such as device type, operating system version, and general device category to optimise the Service for your device. This information is collected through Firebase and is not used for tracking or advertising purposes.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Process audio via your microphone for Quran recitation identification and live transcription
- Provide, maintain, and improve the Service
- Generate AI-powered verse insights using OpenAI (GPT-4o-mini)
- Manage your account and provide customer support
- Process and verify subscription transactions via RevenueCat and the Apple App Store
- Communicate service updates and important announcements
- Analyse usage patterns (in aggregate) to improve features
4. Third-Party Services
We do not sell your personal data. We share data with the following third-party services, each for a specific purpose:
- OpenAI — Audio data is sent to OpenAI's Whisper API for speech-to-text transcription. Text prompts are sent to OpenAI's GPT-4o-mini for AI verse insights. Data is processed according to OpenAI's Privacy Policy and is not used to train their models when accessed via API.
- Firebase (Google) — We use Firebase Authentication for user sign-in, Firebase Analytics for anonymous usage data, and Firebase Cloud services for backend infrastructure. Data is processed according to Firebase's Privacy Policy.
- Google Sign-In — If you choose to sign in with Google, your basic profile information (name, email, profile photo) is shared with us through the Google Sign-In SDK. We only access the information you consent to share.
- Apple Sign-In — If you choose to sign in with Apple, your name and email (or a private relay email) are shared with us. Apple's “Hide My Email” feature is fully supported.
- RevenueCat — Manages in-app purchases and subscription entitlements. RevenueCat receives your anonymous app user ID, purchase receipts, subscription status, and transaction metadata from the Apple App Store. RevenueCat does not receive your name, email, or other personal information unless you are identified via our app. Data is processed according to RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.
- Vercel — Hosts our website (recitid.ai). Server logs may contain IP addresses and request metadata.
- Apple App Store — Processes all payment transactions for in-app purchases. We do not have access to your payment card information.
5. Data Retention
Audio recordings are processed in real-time and not stored beyond the processing window (typically a few seconds). Account data is retained for the duration of your account. Usage analytics data is retained in anonymised, aggregated form. When you delete your account, all associated personal data is permanently removed within 30 days.
6. Data Security
We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS), secure authentication via Firebase, encrypted storage of sensitive data, and regular security reviews. No method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure, but we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your data.
7. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:
- Access your personal data
- Correct inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data
- Object to or restrict data processing
- Data portability
- Withdraw consent at any time
To exercise any of these rights, you can delete your account directly within the app (Settings > Account > Delete Account) or contact us at support@recitid.ai.
8. GDPR (European Economic Area)
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), we process your personal data under the following legal bases:
- Contract performance — Processing necessary to provide the Service (audio transcription, account management, subscription processing).
- Legitimate interests — Analytics and service improvement, provided these do not override your rights.
- Consent — For microphone access and optional features. You may withdraw consent at any time by revoking microphone permissions in your device settings.
You have additional rights under GDPR including the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
9. CCPA (California Residents)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to: (1) know what personal information we collect about you, (2) request deletion of your personal information, (3) opt out of the sale of personal information — we do not sell personal information, and (4) non-discrimination for exercising your CCPA rights. 10. Children's Privacy
Our Service is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will promptly delete that information.
11. Tracking & Advertising
RecitID does not track you across other apps or websites. We do not use advertising identifiers (IDFA). We do not display third-party advertisements. Our analytics are limited to anonymous, aggregated usage data within the app.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the “Last updated” date. For significant changes, we may also notify you via email or an in-app notification.
