What is RecitID?
RecitID is an AI-powered app that identifies any Quran recitation playing around you — like Shazam, but for the Quran. It also lets you read the Quran in 17 languages, listen to 18 world-renowned reciters, transcribe live khutbahs, and explore AI-generated verse insights.
How do I identify a Quran recitation?
Open RecitID and tap the Detect button (microphone icon). Hold your device near the audio source. The AI listens for up to 18 seconds, transcribes the Arabic, and matches it against the entire Quran. You'll see the surah, verse number, reciter name, and a confidence score.
Do I need an account to use RecitID?
You can use most features without an account. Creating an account (via Apple, Google, or email) enables cloud sync for bookmarks and settings across devices.
Which devices are supported?
RecitID is available on both iOS and Android. Download it from the App Store or Google Play.
Is RecitID free?
Yes. Core features — audio detection (limited per day), full Quran reading in 3 layouts, 17 translations, bookmarks, Daily Wisdom, and audio playback — are completely free. Premium unlocks unlimited detections, AI insights, and more.
Audio Detection
6 articles
How long does detection take?
RecitID performs two checks: an initial 10-second scan, and if needed, an extended 18-second scan. Most recitations are identified within the first 10 seconds with high confidence.
Detection says 'No Match' — what should I do?
This usually means the audio quality was too low or the recitation wasn't clear enough. Try: (1) Move closer to the audio source, (2) Reduce background noise, (3) Make sure the volume is audible, (4) Ensure actual Quran recitation is playing — RecitID matches against the Arabic text of the Quran, not general Arabic speech.
Which reciters can RecitID identify?
RecitID can identify any reciter — it works by transcribing the Arabic audio and matching it to Quran text, not by recognizing specific voices. For playback, 18 reciters are available including Mishary Al-Afasy, Al-Sudais, Saad Al-Ghamdi, Abdul Basit Abdul Samad, Al-Husary, and more.
Why does it need microphone access?
RecitID needs your microphone to hear and transcribe the Quran recitation playing around you. Audio is processed in real-time via AI (OpenAI Whisper) and immediately discarded — we never store your recordings.
The microphone won't start — how do I fix it?
Make sure: (1) You've granted microphone permission in your device Settings > RecitID > Microphone, (2) No other app is using the microphone (close Zoom, voice recorders, etc.), (3) Try restarting the app. If the issue persists, restart your device.
What is the confidence score?
The confidence score (shown as a percentage) indicates how certain the AI is about its match. Scores above 70% are highly reliable. Scores between 50–70% are likely correct but worth verifying. Below 50%, the match may be approximate.
Quran Reading
5 articles
What reading modes are available?
Three modes: (1) Verse-by-Verse — each ayah displayed individually with optional translation and transliteration, (2) Mushaf — authentic 604-page layout using King Fahd Complex (KFGQPC) font, matching the printed Medina Mushaf, (3) Compact — condensed view for quick reading.
Which translation languages are supported?
17 languages: English, French, Spanish, German, Turkish, Urdu, Indonesian, Malay, Bengali, Russian, Chinese, Portuguese, Italian, Dutch, Swahili, Hausa, and Somali.
Can I read offline?
Yes. Once you've viewed a surah, the Quran text is cached on your device for offline reading. Audio playback and detection features require an internet connection.
How do I change the font size?
In the Quran reader, look for the text size controls. You can adjust the Arabic text size and translation text size independently. Font size settings persist across sessions.
How do I bookmark a verse?
While reading any verse, tap the bookmark icon to save it. Access all your saved verses from Settings > Bookmarks. Bookmarks sync across devices if you're signed in.
Live Khutbah
4 articles
What is Live Khutbah mode?
Live mode records Arabic speech in real-time (lectures, khutbahs, classes), transcribes it, and translates it into 40+ languages — so you can follow along in your language even if you don't understand Arabic.
Which languages can Live mode translate to?
Over 40 languages including English, French, Spanish, German, Turkish, Urdu, Indonesian, Malay, Bengali, Russian, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Italian, Dutch, Swahili, Hindi, Persian, Tamil, Thai, and many more.
Can I save a Live session?
Yes. After a Live session ends, you can save the full transcript (Arabic + translation) for later review. Saved sessions are accessible from the Library tab.
Is Live mode the same as Detection?
No. Detection identifies a specific Quran verse from a recitation. Live mode transcribes any Arabic speech continuously — it's designed for lectures, sermons, and classes, not for verse identification.
Audio & Playback

How many reciters are available?
18 reciters across three categories — Modern Favorites (Al-Afasy, Al-Sudais, Al-Ghamdi, etc.), Haramain Imams (Al-Shuraim, Al-Muaiqly, etc.), and Legends (Abdul Basit, Al-Husary, Al-Minshawi, etc.).
How do I change the reciter?
Go to Settings > Reciter and select your preferred voice. Your choice applies to all audio playback throughout the app.
What playback speeds are available?
Four speeds: 0.75× (slow), 1× (normal), 1.25× (faster), and 1.5× (fastest). Useful for memorization at slower speeds or review at higher speeds.
What is the MiniPlayer?
The MiniPlayer appears at the bottom of the screen when audio is playing, allowing you to navigate the app while listening. It shows the current verse, reciter, and playback controls. Supports lock screen controls too.
Audio says 'unavailable' — how do I fix it?
This usually means the audio file couldn't be loaded. Check your internet connection and try again. If the issue persists, try switching to a different reciter — some audio files may be temporarily unavailable from the source server.
Account & Subscription
5 articles
How do I create an account?
Open RecitID and go to Settings, then tap Sign In. You can sign in with Apple, Google, or email/password.
How do I reset my password?
On the sign-in screen, enter your email address and tap 'Forgot Password'. Check your inbox for a reset link. If you don't see it, check your spam folder.
What does Premium include?
Premium ($4.99/mo or $39.99/year) unlocks: unlimited audio detections, AI-generated verse insights and tafsir, advanced word-by-word transliteration, priority recognition speed, full reciter library, and an ad-free experience.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Subscriptions are managed through your App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android) settings — not within RecitID. Go to your device Settings > Subscriptions > RecitID > Cancel. Your Premium features remain active until the end of your billing period.
How do I restore purchases?
Go to Settings > Restore Purchases. This syncs your subscription status if you've reinstalled the app or switched devices. Make sure you're signed into the same App Store / Google Play account used for the original purchase.
Troubleshooting
5 articles
The app is running slow
Try: (1) Close and reopen the app, (2) Make sure you're on a stable internet connection, (3) Clear the app cache in your device settings, (4) Update to the latest version. RecitID processes audio via cloud AI, so a slow connection can affect performance.
Notifications aren't working
Go to your device Settings > Notifications > RecitID and make sure notifications are enabled. In the app, go to Settings > Notifications and toggle them on. Some features like Daily Wisdom reminders require notification permission.
The app crashes on startup
Try: (1) Force-close the app and reopen, (2) Restart your device, (3) Check for app updates in the App Store / Google Play, (4) If none of that works, uninstall and reinstall the app. Your bookmarks and settings will sync back if you're signed in.
Audio detection times out
API requests time out after 30 seconds. If you're on a slow connection, detection may fail. Try: (1) Switch to a faster WiFi or cellular network, (2) Move to an area with better signal, (3) Try again — the app retries automatically on temporary failures.
Text/Arabic displays incorrectly
Make sure your device supports Arabic text rendering. On most modern devices this works out of the box. If you see boxes or garbled text: (1) Update your device OS to the latest version, (2) Check that Arabic language support is installed in your device settings.

What data does RecitID collect?
Minimal data: your bookmarks, settings preferences, and basic usage analytics (which features you use). If you create an account, your email and display name. We do not sell or share personal data with third parties.
Is my data encrypted?
Yes. All data transmitted between the app and our servers uses HTTPS encryption. Account credentials are handled securely via Apple, Google, or Firebase Authentication — we never see or store your password.
Can I delete my account?
Yes. Contact support@recitid.com with your account email and we'll process your deletion request. All associated data (bookmarks, settings, account info) will be permanently removed.
