Identifying a recitation is really two separate jobs, and RecitID does both.
Which surah & verse?
RecitID listens to the Arabic being recited and matches it against every ayah of the Quran, so you can identify a surah from audio alone, down to the exact verse, with no typing and no need to read Arabic yourself.
Who is reciting?
This is the harder question. RecitID analyses the voice itself (a unique acoustic fingerprint) and matches it against 300+ reference reciters, so the Quran reciter finder can name a qari you have never heard before.
In our own held-out testing, RecitID named the right reciter on 29 of 30 clean six-second clips, and every time it was confident enough to show a name, the name was right. It degrades gracefully as noise and compression creep in, and where it is unsure it says so with a label (High confidence, Likely match or Possible match) rather than guessing.

It works best with clear audio, but it's built for real-world sources: a mosque speaker, a phone, a TikTok or YouTube clip. Background noise lowers accuracy, and when RecitID isn't confident it declines rather than guessing a wrong answer.

Is my audio stored when I use detection?
Your recording is sent to our servers to be matched against the Quran, then deleted once the match completes. We keep no copy, never use it for advertising and never sell it. Our processing providers may retain request content briefly for security and abuse monitoring. Full detail is in our Privacy Policy.
