iOS Live Activity

Detection and playback without opening the app.

RecitID uses iOS Live Activities and the Dynamic Island to surface detection progress, match results, and playback controls on the lock screen. On Android, the same information shows in the persistent media notification.

What it shows

01

During detection

A listening indicator with a countdown. When the match comes through, the surah, verse, and reciter appear in the Dynamic Island and on the lock screen.

02

During playback

Current verse, reciter, and transport controls — play, pause, next, previous — on the lock screen and in the Dynamic Island.

03

Quick actions

Tap to open the full verse. Long-press the Dynamic Island for the expanded Live Activity view.

Platform details

  • Live Activities on iOS 17 and later. Dynamic Island layout on iPhone 14 Pro and later.
  • Lock-screen fallback shows on every supported iPhone, including models without Dynamic Island.
  • Android: persistent media notification with transport controls — same controls, different visual surface.
  • No extra setup beyond allowing Live Activities for RecitID in iOS Settings › Notifications.
  • Works with Auto-Detect, single-tap detection, and verse playback sessions.
  • Battery cost is driven by the underlying audio work, not the Live Activity itself.

FAQ

What does the Live Activity show?

During detection: the listening progress with a countdown. When a match comes through: the surah, verse, and reciter. During playback: the current verse, reciter, and transport controls.

Which iPhones support Dynamic Island?

iPhone 14 Pro and later show the compact Dynamic Island layout. On older iPhones, the Live Activity shows on the lock screen and in the notification area.

Is there an Android equivalent?

Android uses persistent media and foreground-service notifications for playback — the visual isn't a Dynamic Island but the same controls are available from the notification shade and lock screen.

Do I need to configure anything?

Allow Live Activities for RecitID from iOS Settings › Notifications › RecitID. The first time you start detection or playback, iOS may prompt for this.

Does it use more battery?

Live Activities are managed by iOS and drain less than keeping the app open. The main cost is the audio work itself — detection listening or playback — not the Live Activity surface.

Try it

Download RecitID on iPhone and start a detection. The Dynamic Island does the rest.
