What is RecitID?

RecitID identifies any Quran recitation playing around you in seconds, telling you the surah, the verse, and who is reciting it. Its voice-recognition engine recognises 300+ reciters (qaris), so you can find out which qari you're hearing.

People often call it "the Shazam for the Quran". It runs on iPhone (iOS 17.6 or later) and Android (8.0 or later). It also lets you read the Quran in 41 languages, listen to 130+ reciters for playback, transcribe and translate live khutbahs into 52 languages, scan Arabic text with your camera, and get AI explanations and follow-up chat on any verse.

The app is organised into a few main areas:

1. Home: shortcuts to every feature, plus links to your past detections and scans.
2. Quran: the reader, with Verse by Verse, Mushaf and Compact layouts.
3. Detect: tap the button above "Tap to Identify" to name a recitation, or long-press it for auto-detect.
4. Live: real-time transcription and translation of a khutbah, lecture or class.
5. Camera: the Smart Scanner for Arabic text such as Quran pages, hadith, du'a and dhikr.

Settings is not a tab. Open it by tapping your profile picture at the top right of Home.

Good to know: detection works by matching what it hears against every verse of the Quran (6,236 in the standard Hafs count), so it can find the verse whoever is reciting. Naming the reciter is a separate voice match on top of that. Reading the Quran is free. Monthly Pro and Annual Pro, paid only through Apple or Google, add higher limits. There are no ads on any plan.
