Do I need an account?

No. Many features work without an account: you can detect recitations, read the Quran and listen to reciters straight away. Signing in with Apple, Google, or email enables cloud sync for bookmarks across devices, and a free account is needed for a few features.

You will be asked to sign in when you:

1. Bookmark a verse.
2. Start Live Translation ("Sign in to use Live Translation.").
3. Send a scan to the Smart Scanner. You can open the camera without an account; the sign-in sheet appears when the scan is processed.
4. Use AI Chat or AI Explain.
5. Buy a subscription. You can look at the plans without an account, but the purchase itself needs one.

To sign in:

1. On Home, tap your profile picture at the top right to open Settings.
2. Tap the "Sign in" card at the top ("Sync bookmarks & settings").
3. Choose "Sign in with Apple", "Sign in with Google" or "Sign in with Email". On Android the Apple option reads "Continue with Apple".

What comes with you to a new device once you sign in: your bookmarks, your detection history and your stats. Recent AI chats can be restored from Chat history.

Good to know: Live session transcripts are saved only on the phone where you recorded them, not to your account. Signing out removes your account's data from that device; bookmarks, detection history and stats come back when you sign in again.
