What is Auto-Detect mode?
Auto-Detect keeps RecitID listening continuously, instead of one clip per tap, until it recognises the verse being recited. It's useful when you don't know when the recitation will start, or when you want to put the phone down and let it work. It auto-pauses when it stops hearing recitation, well within about 1.5 minutes of silence, to save battery.
How it works:
- Start it with a long press (about a second) on the Detect button. On Home, long-press the "Identify a recitation" card.
- RecitID listens in short clips of about 5 seconds, stretched to 10 seconds while recitation is coming through, and checks each one.
- When it recognises a verse, the result opens and Auto-Detect stops. To follow the next verse, start Auto-Detect again.
- It keeps listening when you switch to another app or lock the screen, and sends a notification when it finds a match. On Android you'll see an "Auto-detect is listening…" notification while it runs.
How it saves battery:
- If it picks up nothing usable for about 10 seconds (silence, faint sound or no recitation), it shows "Can't hear clearly" and "Move closer or turn up the sound".
- After about 30 seconds without usable recitation, it pauses with "No recitation heard" and "Tap Resume to try again".
Stopping and pausing: tap the button to pause ("Auto-detect paused") and long-press to stop. While paused you'll see "Resume" and "Stop" buttons.
Good to know: on the free plan, each clip Auto-Detect sends for matching counts as a detection, except clips where no recitation was heard. A long session can use several of your 5 daily detections. Pro plans have no daily cap (subject to fair use).
