Sheikh Abdullah Al-Juhany عبدالله عواد الجهني

Sheikh Abdullah Al-Juhany (b. 1976, Madinah) is a Saudi Quran reciter and an imam of Masjid al-Haram in Makkah, appointed permanently in 2007 after leading Tarawih there from 2005. He holds a PhD from Umm Al-Qura University and won the international Quran competition in Makkah at sixteen.

Abdullah Al-Juhany memorised the Quran in early childhood at the Al-Ashraf Mosque in Madinah's western Harrah district. Before moving to Makkah he led prayers in Madinah, including at the Prophet's Mosque, Quba Mosque and, for two years, Masjid al-Qiblatayn, and his 2005 Tarawih assignment at Masjid al-Haram came by royal decree.

He took his bachelor's degree at the College of the Quran of the Islamic University of Madinah, taught at the Teachers College in Madinah, and then joined Umm Al-Qura University as a teaching assistant, earning his master's in tafsir and his doctorate between 1430 and 1433 AH (2008–2012). Scholars of the readings who gave him ijazah or praised his recitation include Sheikh Ibrahim Al-Akhdar, Sheikh Ali Al-Hudhaifi and Sheikh Muhammad Ayyub. He is also a khatib of Masjid al-Haram and was scheduled to deliver the Friday sermon there on 21 Dhu al-Qadah 1447 AH (May 2026).
