Sheikh Maher Al-Muaiqly ماهر المعيقلي

Sheikh Maher Al-Muaiqly (b. 1969, Madinah) is a Saudi Quran reciter and an imam and khatib of Masjid al-Haram in Makkah, appointed in 2007. He holds a PhD in jurisprudence from Umm Al-Qura University and delivered the Arafat sermon of Hajj in 2024.

Al-Muaiqly memorised the Quran and studied at the Teachers' College in Madinah before moving to Makkah, where he worked as a mathematics teacher and later as a student counsellor. At Umm Al-Qura University he earned a master's degree in fiqh in 2004, a doctorate in tafsir in 2011 and a second doctorate, in fiqh, in 2012.

He was appointed an assistant professor at the university's College of Judicial Studies and Regulations, where he also served as vice dean for postgraduate studies and scientific research. He has written two scholarly works: one on the fiqh issues of Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal as narrated by Abdulmalik al-Maimuni, and an editorial study of Tuhfat al-Nabih fi Sharh al-Tanbih focusing on hudud and the judiciary. Before leading taraweeh at the Grand Mosque, he was appointed to lead the Taraweeh and Qiyam prayers at the Prophet's Mosque in Madinah.
