Sheikh Abdullah Al-Matrood عبدالله المطرود

Sheikh Abdullah Al-Matrood (b. 1963, Al-Kharj) is a Saudi Quran reciter and imam who holds a doctorate in Islamic creed from Imam Muhammad ibn Saud Islamic University. He has served as imam of several mosques in Riyadh and Diriyah and recites in the Hafs an Asim narration.

From the age of fifteen he led prayers whenever his father, a mosque imam, was absent. He was first appointed imam of a mosque in Riyadh's Al-Oud district in 1399 AH (1978/79), then led mosques in Ghubaira and Manfuha before moving to the Prince Khalid bin Saud Mosque in Al-Uraija, where he became widely known across Riyadh, and later to the Fatima Al-Zahra Mosque in Al-Mursalat.

Among the teachers he studied the Quran with were Sheikh Muhammad Dhakir and Sheikh Muhammad Al-Shahri. His doctoral dissertation, completed in 1424 AH, studied Sufism in the fourth Islamic century and the responses of early scholars to it.
