Biography

Sheikh Saad Al-Ghamdi (b. 1967, Dammam) is a Saudi Quran reciter who completed his memorisation of the Quran in 1990, at the age of twenty-two. He holds a degree in usul al-din from Imam Muhammad ibn Saud Islamic University in Al-Ahsa and an ijazah in the Hafs 'an 'Asim narration, and was appointed imam of the Yousuf bin Ahmed Kanoo Mosque in Dammam.

He first led the Taraweeh prayers in 1411 AH (1990/91), which marked the start of his public recitation, and his first release contained Surahs Al-Ahzab and Az-Zumar. He received an ijazah with a chain of transmission in the Hafs 'an 'Asim narration in 1417 AH (1996/97).

In 1430 AH (2009) a royal decree appointed him as one of the imams leading Taraweeh prayers at the Prophet's Mosque in Madinah during Ramadan. In March 2025, Okaz reported that he was general supervisor of the Muhammad Al-Fatih private schools and of the Imam Al-Shatibi Quran Centre in Dammam.
