What is Live Khutbah mode?
Live mode records Arabic speech in real time, transcribes it, and translates it into 52 languages, so you can follow a khutbah, lecture, or class in your language even if you don't speak Arabic.
How to start a session:
- Open the Live tab.
- Check the language pill at the top right. Tap it to choose your translation language, or "Arabic Only" for a transcript with no translation.
- Tap the green microphone button ("Start Listening"). The first time, RecitID suggests turning on a Focus (Do Not Disturb on Android) so calls don't interrupt the khutbah. Tap "Got it" to begin.
- Put your phone close to the speaker, screen up, with the microphone pointing at the khatib. The Arabic and the translation appear block by block as the speaker talks.
While a session is running:
- The header shows "LIVE" and how much Live time you have left.
- "Pause" stops listening for a moment, and "Continue" picks up again. "Stop" ends the session and saves it.
- The screen stays awake, so you can put the phone down and read.
- On iPhone, leaving the Live tab pauses the session. After 10 minutes with no speech, Live pauses itself.
When you stop, the "Transcript" screen lets you Listen, Copy, Share or Delete the session, or start a "New Session". Past sessions are listed under "Recent Sessions", and "Past Sessions" holds the full list.
Good to know:
- Live needs a free account and an internet connection. If the connection drops, Live keeps listening for up to 10 minutes and catches up when you're back online.
- Transcripts are saved only on your phone, not synced to your account.
- Your first khutbah is free, up to 45 minutes. After that, Live is part of Monthly Pro (5 hours a month) and Annual Pro (60 hours a year).
