Which languages can Live mode translate to?
52 languages, including English, French, Spanish, German, Turkish, Urdu, Indonesian, Bengali, Russian, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Hindi, Persian, and many more.
Others in the list include Albanian, Amharic, Bosnian, Hausa, Kurdish, Malay, Pashto, Punjabi, Somali, Swahili and Yoruba. Arabic is always transcribed, whichever language you choose.
To choose your Live language:
- Open the Live tab.
- Tap the language pill at the top right of the screen.
- In "Translation Language", search or scroll, then tap your language. The list closes and your choice is saved. Search also understands other common names, such as "Farsi" for Persian and "Tagalog" for Filipino.
You can also set it in Settings › Language › "Live Translation". The default is English.
If you only want the Arabic, choose "Arabic Only". The transcript then shows as one flowing Arabic text, with no translation.
How Quran verses are translated: when the speaker recites a verse RecitID recognises, the live translation for that verse is replaced by a published scholarly translation in your language where one is available. If none exists for your language, the verse is translated by AI and labelled "AI translation".
Good to know: the Live language list (52) is separate from the Quran reader's translation list (41). Changing one doesn't change the other. If translation can't be reached during a session, Live keeps going and shows "Translation unavailable — showing Arabic only".
