Can I scan handwriting?

The Scanner is optimised for printed Arabic but often reads clear handwriting. If recognition is off, use the paste-text option to enter the Arabic manually and still get the full result card.

To give handwriting the best chance:

1. Photograph it in good, even light, or turn on the flash.
2. Hold the phone steady and parallel to the page.
3. Fill most of the frame with the writing, and tap to focus before you take the photo.
4. Scan one passage at a time rather than a whole crowded page.

If the scan misreads some words:

1. Open the "…" menu on the result and tap "Fix recognition".
2. Correct the Arabic under "WE READ THIS" and tap "Re-analyze".

If it can't read the writing at all, type it instead:

1. Open the Scanner and tap "Paste Arabic text".
2. Type the Arabic, or paste it with "Paste from Clipboard".
3. Tap "Identify Text". You get the same result card as for a photo.

Good to know: whether you scan or paste, the result shows how sure RecitID is, from "Verified source" to "Recognised text". Check a handwritten passage against its source before relying on it.
