Biography
Sheikh Raad Muhammad Al-Kurdi (b. 1991) is an Iraqi Kurdish Quran reciter who has been imam of the Imam al-Shafi'i Mosque in Kirkuk since 2007 and holds an ijazah in the Hafs an Asim narration. His recitations have a large international following online.
Born in Kirkuk, he began memorising the Quran at a young age, won many recitation competitions as a child and received a traditional licence in recitation from Sheikh Ibrahim Al-Mashhadani. The Muslim 500 also lists him as a visiting imam at the Al-Kharafi mosques in Sulaibikhat, Kuwait, and says he often leads prayers during Ramadan at the Ahmad Al-Habbai Mosque in Dubai.
On 17 September 2025 the Ruler of Sharjah launched his complete recorded recitation of the Quran in the Hafs 'an 'Asim narration at the Holy Quran Academy in Sharjah.
