Sheikh Saud Al-Shuraim سعود الشريم

Sheikh Saud Al-Shuraim (b. 1966, Riyadh) is a Saudi Quran reciter and scholar who served as an imam and khatib of Masjid al-Haram in Makkah for about three decades, from 1412 AH (1991–92) until 2022. He holds a PhD in jurisprudence from Umm Al-Qura University, where he has been a professor and dean.

Al-Shuraim studied at Al-Yarmouk Secondary School in Riyadh and then at Imam Muhammad ibn Saud Islamic University, graduating in 1988 from the department of creed and contemporary doctrines in the College of Usul al-Din. He took a master's degree in comparative jurisprudence from the university's Higher Judicial Institute in 1992, and his doctoral thesis at Umm Al-Qura University was on Abu Mansur Al-Kirmani's Al-Masalik fi al-Manasik.

In 1992 a royal order appointed him a judge at the Grand Court of Makkah, and a year later he was also appointed to teach at Masjid al-Haram. At Umm Al-Qura University he became a lecturer in 1999, deputy dean of the College of Sharia and Islamic Studies in 2003 and its dean in 2005, and from 2012 to 2021 he was dean of the College of Judicial Studies and Law.
