Biography

Qari Islam Sobhi (b. 1998, Menoufia) is an Egyptian Quran reciter who became known through recitations posted on YouTube; his official channel, launched in 2018, has passed one million subscribers.

He grew up in the village of Melij in the Shebin El-Kom district of Menoufia, and his serious interest in recitation began in his third year of preparatory school, when he was drawn especially to the voice of Sheikh Maher Al-Muaiqly. He went on to study medicine, and his voice first drew attention at the start of his second year, when he posted a short recitation to his class's online group and classmates urged him to start a YouTube channel.
